Canav - Story:
The founder of the Navaltecnica Shipyard of Anzio was the Commander Attilio Petroni, in the 50s he built the ships for the film Cleopatra and built some boats for the Navy. At that time Commander Petroni and a friend, the father of "Sonny" Levi, owner of a shipyard for the construction for the English navy in Karachi, developed the project of fast boats. The crossed lamellar system dates back to the English and American Clippers and in the Second World War, hundreds of even large patrol boats were built with this system. With the birth of Aerodux resin Sonny Levi had the idea of using the lamellar system with gluing instead of riveting. "A’ Speranziella " was the first pleasure craft built with this system, designed by Sonny Levi, which later became one of the best and winner designer in the world, its hulls won hundreds of competitions. In fact the lines and the strength of the hull allowed to win the most important race for motorboats of the time, the Cowes-Torquay of 1963. The fame of the shipyard induced the lawyer Vincenzo Balestrieri, fond of offshore, to enter as partner giving further impulse to the productivity of the yard and bringing it in a short time among the first in the world.
