Tullio Abbate Off-Shore Ferrari Boxer
In 1980, in collaboration with Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi, Tullio Abbate began to dream of a FERRARI motorized boat. With the intercession of Gilles and Didier, who were his pupils, Eng. ENZO FERRARI agrees to meet Tullio and then to supply him with the BOXER 512 carburetor engines, the same as the FERRARI 512 BB. In truth, it is not the first time that a Ferrari engine enters the family ... GUIDO ABBATE had already realized in 1951 a hull "Three Points" motorized Ferrari for Achille Castoldi, which established a world record of speed at 181 km / h . From the meeting with Ing. Enzo Ferrari, his son Piero and Eng. Alzati at the Maranello factories, the idea arises to marinaze the legendary BOXER engine mounted on the FERRARI 512 BB. Having obtained the blessing of the "great old man", Tullio begins with great enthusiasm this enterprise that commits him, together with several collaborators for about two years. At the end of this ingenious process of marinization, the engine weighs 380 kg and gives the same power declared by Ferrari. At this point the first tests of the engine begin on different boats and finally the perfect hull is designed and built: a splendid flaming red OFF-SHORE - "Tullio Abbate powered by Ferrari". The FERRARI BOXER is officially presented at the Genoa Boat Show in 1985. Now you have the opportunity to buy a piece of boating history, a unique racer boat preserved as new. Further info on request.
